What We Wish For

You’ve heard the old saying, “Be careful what you wish for because you just might get it.” Well, this blog is NOT about that !!
It is about wishing and hoping. As far back as I can remember I have wanted to be a “published” author.

In her book “Chosen by a Horse” author Susan Richards wrote that she knew there was a book inside of her she just had to take the time and effort to allow it to come forth.
I feel this way. There are words in journals by my bed, on bookshelves in my home, still in boxes packed in the garage, even on the “note” section of my cell phone – words everywhere that have spilled out of my heart that I have written down. Blogging has given me the courage to write words to you and let you critique them — it is a scary process for me but you have ALL been so kind and have not given me much negative feedback which has bolstered my confidence all the more.
And suddenly it happened, one of you asked permission to share my “Wishing Tree” and my excited YES has landed the little tree into the hands of an official Editor. The most exciting to happen to me since….. Africa.
I’ll tell you one thing, when the Lord allows exciting things to happen He does not joke around. Africa and Editor written by my hand on the same paper is something I would only see in the fantasy life I have in my mind.
Now for a little reality check. Words on a page in front of an editor can spell disaster for a writer. If she sends word back that it’s rubbish and will never publish then I will have to shallow that and move on. If it’s good news I’ll be shouting from the rooftops, so if you don’t hear about it ….. don’t ask !
If her response is painful I will say – – Pain hurts but we will learn from it.
We learn, not to bury our broken hearts in boxes underground but to pick up, stand tall and bring joy to others as best we can.
It all comes back to saying “Yes” – here it is again, the recurring thread running through all my blogs…. Say yes and work the details out later. Yes, and then follow Peter out of the boat toward Jesus walking on the water. Will you sink, maybe, but even if you take one step it’s so scary but so worth it.
One last word here, back in October I was in a Bible Study by Pricilla Shrier called “Jonah” and one section had us write down the top three things in our life that we had deep hope in accomplishing…….. after I wrote my down my three I began to cry as I realized for the first time in my life that all three ARE achievable. They are not fantasies, they are dreams and there is a big difference between the two. I’ll blog about that later.
Praying that my children’s book gets published and praying that a dear friend of mine who is an incredible artist can illustrate it. She wants to and I want her to – what an ultimate dream come true for us both !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What are you praying for ? Is it a fantasy or is it a dream that can come true? If it can come true then don’t ever stop praying and moving toward it.
Don’t stop believing.
“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”
Hebrews 11:1
