You know how people say that “EVERYTHING” is in the Bible?  Well, here is a funny little example of something small but very significant in scripture.

In class we’re learning about Verbal Abuse and how it is multi-faceted and very harmful. Well, one form of this is abuse disguised as joking. Ever heard of that? Little sarcastic remarks that make you question your sanity because it made your heart hurt and you don’t know why, then everyone in the room giggles as the person says “Oh, I was only joking! Don’t be so serious?”  And you stand there feeling like a fool…… well, as the teacher was talking about this form of abuse I said – “Hey, that’s actually in the Bible.” Here it is to prove it.

Like a madman shooting firebrands or deadly arrows is a man who deceives his neighbor and says, “I was only joking!”  Proverbs 26:18
