I have an email prayer pack that I roll with and we all have “nicknames”, mine is “Hope”.

So, I got this email Monday night from “Moon”, she was doing research in the Hebrew Dictionary and looked up “Hope (pronounced Tikvah) – The Hebrew word tikvah can be translated as “hope” or as “cord” (Joshua 2:18,21).  In the scriptures, the word first appears in reference to the cord of “scarlet thread” that Rahab used to signal her faith.  The root word means to look for, wait, hope (Genesis 49:18).  The Israeli National Anthem is Hatikva is about the undying hope of the Jewish people to one day return to their ancient homeland”

This truly fits the place I am standing in my life right now.  Rahab was in Jericho and knew the Hebrew spies surely meant disaster would be coming upon the city.  She hid them and made a pack with them that she (and her family) would be rescued when the battle was won.  She was instructed to drop a scarlet rope out her window along the wall and surely rescue would come It did, she married Salmon of the Hebrew faith, gave birth to a son named Boaz – who married Ruth and this is proclaimed as one of the most romantic stories in the Bible. Ruth gave birth to Obed, whose son is Jesse, whose son is David (as in King David).  God brought both Rahab and Ruth into the lineage of Jesus from outside the Hebrew faith.  Rahab was a harlot (a modern day “madam”) and Ruth was a Moabite.

So, it’s significant to me because I’ve been through alot in this life.  I’ve never been a prostitute but when I met my first husband he was the husband of another so I sure have been referred to as a harlot !!  I have a catch phrase that I’ve said for years now – – –

I may be a “Rahab” but I’m raising up a “Boaz” !!!!!!

So, just hang on ladies – – no matter what happens in this life, there’s always HOPE – – God can turn anything around and change your life if you but only let Him in and give Him control.
