Just sharing a song today. The first time I heard it the line “we are free in ways that we never should be” just popped out at me. What a great line – wished I’d written it. This is so true – Adam and Eve messed up and gave us such knowledge that we now walk the line between good and evil every day. Too much to bear sometimes. I love it in Genesis when God says to these two frail humans….. “who told you that you were naked”….. gotta love it. Ignorance is bliss and if they’d obeyed they would have lived happily ever after…. man this blog goes deeper than you think…… anyway here are the song lyrics – I love this song. i put a youtube link in case you want to hear it. It’s also special to me because the first play I ever wrote the lead character was named “Emmanuel”. This is my favorite name for Jesus.
“God With Us” – Mercy Me
Who are we That You would be mindful of us What do You see That’s worth looking our way We are free In ways that we never should be Sweet release From the grip of these chains Like hinges straining from the weight My heart no longer can keep from singing Chorus All that is within me cries For You alone be glorified Emmanuel God with us My heart sings a brand new song
The debt is paid these chains are gone Emmanuel God with us
Lord You know Our hearts don’t deserve Your glory Still You show A love we cannot afford Like hinges straining from the weight My heart no longer can keep from singing
Bridge Such a tiny offering compared to Calvary Nevertheless we lay it at Your feet
