A comment from yesterday’s blog moved me. As I wrote back I typed
“War changes lives, war changes everything.”
That is a true and powerful statement. My dear friend did not meet their father until they were 62 years old. They were born in Europe to a woman in love with an American GI during World War II. Their father returned to “home” and left them alone. 62 years is a long time to wait to meet your dad. Praise God they persevered to discover the identity and then produced the boldness to contact. Now a sister here was connected to the reason she always felt heartsick for Scotland. A father got to see his son and connect with him, his children and grandchildren before he passed on. Grown children were able to see peace for their father, tormented by a secret for six decades.
So, how about I give honor to Scotland’s most beloved warrior … no not Mel Gibson !

Sir William Wallace, Born c. 1270, probably near Paisley, Renfrew, became the leader of the Scottish resistance forces during the first years of the long, and ultimately successful, struggle to free Scotland from English rule. The English continued to pursue Wallace relentlessly and he was captured in 1305. Taken to London, he was hanged.
