My Happy Place

I recently went out to dinner with my mom at Chili’s and there on the table was a book of alcoholic drinks and decadent desserts that caught my eye because of the marketing on the front cover…… now if  “Happy Hour” isn’t enough marketing the following sales pitch went over the top for me….

“Go To Your Happy Place”

Anyone who has dealt with someone in their life who drinks to avoid anything or everything knows that it is impossible to communicate with them and since they run from conflict you are never their “happy place”.   I cannot think of any problem I’ve ever heard of that alcohol made better.

Now, before you think I’m preaching here please know that I have nothing wrong with alcohol – I drink on occasion (normally at home and never to excess) but I do drink.  It is not the drinking that is the issue it is the excessive delusion that is the issue.

Delusion:  a fixed false belief that is resistant to reason or confrontation with actual fact

Keep in mind that desserts were in the same book and severely over the top.  Now I DO have a personal problem with over eating and especially sugar but I’m not going to lay down that much money for sugar.  But it does make me think –

Do I over eat to avoid something?  This is a hard question and worth another long look in the mirror.  What is MY “happy place” and is it at the bottom of a bowl in exchange of a bottle?

Hard questions with hard answers.

dont step on it it makes you cry
