Healing the Heart

I caught the movies “Brave” and “Snow White and the Huntsman” this past weekend. Loved them both ! There were a couple of moments that jumped out at me beyond the movies.
I’ll take them one blog at a time.
Both movies had horses, I thought “Angus”, the horse in Brave was beautiful. They made him a Draft Horse and he was gorgeous ! In the other movie there were many war horses thundering on across the ocean shoreline in one scene and I was reminded just how magnificant they are.

An author named Kim Meeder has written 4 books, 2 of which are collections of true stories from her horse rescue ranch named “Crystal Peaks Youth Ranch”. In these collections she tells of severely abused horses that she rescued and brought back to life on her ranch. Local agencies bring abused and neglected children out and deep emotional healing takes place when a horse and child make a connection. Miracles in some cases. Healing the heart.
Early this year I was praying about whether to sign up to go to Africa with Project Joy and I told the Lord that I had nothing to give, that I was broken. I felt Him tell me that I was just like one of Kim’s horses, my journey was to go to Africa and look deep into the eyes of Ernesto’s children and there find the one. Our hearts can heal together. So, I get to go be a horse! Sorry, bad joke. Seriously, love is healing – pure love like you get when you look into the eyes of a horse come in real close, bury your face into their neck and just melt – there is something magical in that moment.
