“Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.”

This is a serious portion in the Lord’s Prayer.  Harder than it looks and harder still to really do it.  Forgive. To forgive does not mean to forget it means to give someone grace whether they deserve it or not.

I look at it like this…. when a person receives an injury bad enough to leave a scar it is very painful.  The pain will go away (eventually) but the scar remains. A reminder of the pain that once was but is no longer.  Emotional pain is like this as well, we must walk through it and let it heal but there may be reminders because we may never forget but we can give grace.

I’ve gotten a little off track here – this blog is supposed to be for the following quote I heard about this portion of the Lord’s Prayer so let me get to it.  We’ll save the deep ocean of forgiveness for another time.

Hope your weekend was great.

The Lord’s Prayer as receited by a 5 year old…….

“Dear Lord, forgive us our trash baskets as we forgive those who throw trash into our baskets.”
