Project Joy – Mozambique

Tomorrow we begin our vaccinations for Africa.  It is very important to know where we are going to touch down with layovers as each country there has different rules and regulations. We must be vaccinated completely up to code for each country we set foot in. Selfishly I’m not jazzed about the multiple injections of foreign serum into my system but that pales in comparison to the amount of money it takes for each team member to be up to code !!

This blog can spin out of control with number of different directions I can discuss, all spiritual.

First, I’ve thought about the money to the amount of $3000. that must be raised and spent for me to make this trip – – oh how much could Ernesto use that money to simply hire local people in the community to help him. I almost backed out of the team based on this fact alone, yet,  something in me wants to go and “help”.  I used to make fun of women who’s husbands spent thousands of dollars jotting off to Colorado or Alaska to “hunt”.  To me it was foolish spending and was expensive meat.

 Second, there’s the faith issue of not wanting the liquid injected into my body to give me a dose of sickness to build my immunity to that sickness – yuk – that just sounds wrong. BUT if I want to get on a plane I have to OBEY this rule.  And some are a series taking 6 months to complete.

Third, the faith to believe that the money will come in over the next 6 months to go.  I have decided to follow my heart through this process, if I have heard incorrectly then I will be the one driving the team to the airport, giving them hugs, praying for them and sending them on.  I will wave goodbye with my passport at home and all travel vaccinations up to date !  I will Praise the Lord and not be embarrased or ashamed of what I’ve done.

Finally, the decision way down deep to commit to this process, work hard as a team member, and pray without ceasing to prepare my heart and spirit to go.  Can God use me there?  Who is waiting for me to come there, to see each other face to face and have an encounter worth $3000. time, effort, energy, etc….. this could possibly be the trip of a lifetime. Forever changing my world.
