And I will give her her vineyards from thence, and the valley of Achor for a door of hope: and she shall sing there, as in the days of her youth, and as in the day when she came up out of the land of Egypt. Hosea 2:15

The Valley of Achor in the Old Testament is where a man named Achan hid stolen treasure after Israel had been victorious in battle.  The trouble was that God had given specific instructions NOT to take anything.  His disobedience was not confessed, it was discovered after Israel suffered defeat in the next battle and Joshua asked the Lord why. Then a tent by tent search was held and the punishment was severe – they stoned Achan to death along with his entire family.  So, for the Lord to tell Hosea that He would make the Valley of Achor a “Door of Hope” for the entire nation of Israel – – This is a big deal.

I am sure Bible Scholars could give you a more in depth study but that is the Smile paraphrase version.

I am asking God for a Door of Hope.  I would like a heart transplant in my spiritual life.  An awakening.

door of hope

Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. Psalm 51:10

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. 2 Corinthians 5:17
