Dec. 12th

Lorraine did not sleep last night. The stray dogs here on the property fight and last night they were all upset. She is a light sleeper and so she does not do well unless things are quiet. The first two nights we stayed here were a Friday and Saturday they had parties both nights, I slept like a rock, she did not.

So her day started off in low gear and thankfully this was the first day we have had that was “normal”. He dropped she and I off at the church where there were already children waiting. While he and Ric went to the center to get the rest Lorraine gathered up the small number to sing. They must have been tired because she commented after the first song….

“The white woman is the only one moving!”

This is funny. I’m the only white person around and just a comfortable as if I was back home. Sometimes the little ones get scared of me if their mom is not around but for the most part, I’m not treated differently. I’m just Lorraine’s assistant, either writing or taking pictures and EVERYONE wants their picture taken. This morning a boy had on a sweatshirt with snowmen on it. I made a special point to take his photo. It is so hot here I can barely stand it and he’s got on a Christmas shirt ! Yikes.

When everyone else arrived we had choir practice with the children for a long time. Many dance routines many new songs and they are loving the new movements and melodies. It is fun to see them enjoying themselves.

After choir the women’s class today was “A Fatherless Generation”

There was much noise with the generator going and class was cut short because Lorraine was pretty tired and having to yell then Ophelia was having to yell. I’ll give you some points.

Female equipment does not make you a mother.

NOT EVERYONE WHO HAS A BABY IS A MOTHER.

NOT EVERYONE WHO HAS A BABY IS A FATHER.

God must come in and change your mind and your heart.

What is inside of me that makes me think I am a nobody?

We arrived home by 5 tonight and I got on Ric’s computer straight away. Now we are caught up on the daily activities (or a general overview anyway).
